I did it.

I made it. 6 weeks of NO dating. I have to say it was easier then I thought. Maybe not fun. But I did a lot of soul searching and still have a lot to do.
But I finally feel better.
I feel better about what I want from dating.
I feel better in what I want the guy to BE.
I feel better knowing who I am.

I know I am going to be pickier about the guys I date. I know being a christian guy is something I NEED. No ifs or buts.

Through the last six weeks other then going out for my birthday I didn't go out to bars and all that. But Saturday night me and my room mate went out. And it was just pure fun. Sure I flirted and had fun, but I had a better place of who I was and wasn't expecting or looking for mr. right, but just for a good time. I tried to put myself in I am not sure that's the girl I want to be, going out drinking flirting with boys, but I am single and if their is no one in the picture I am okay doing that. Its a fun time!

But I made it 6 weeks. And if a good guy comes along I will be okay going on a date. :)

Its EVERYWHERE.

As I am going through this 6 weeks of no dating, and really learning more about me, digging deep..

I have come to realize that the thing I am trying to stop myself from doing, wanting and hoping for(a guy/relationship), is REALLY hard when everywhere I seem to turn its in my face. The shows I watch, sitting at the coffee shop, watching people everywhere. I have a bit of a problem of seeing a relationship happening, whether it on tv or watching a couple, my mind goes into this million a mile fantasy world if only I had that.

Its really hard, and I hate watching some shows now, because one thing too its all lies. Things don't happen so easily for everyone. This is a problem growing up as a girl this is the things I saw, the things I dreamed about, I read books about love, and its all lies. Yes I know love and romance happen but they make it look so easy and simple. Life is complicated along with love.

I started reading a book about being single called Lady in Waiting. and its about Becoming God's Best While Waiting for Mr. Right. I am only 2 chapters in, but its really good, and a lot of what it has said I know, but it digs a bit deeper. It talked about not waiting around for Mr. right, that you need to enjoy this time because its really a short time in life. So I am really trying to focus my energy on other things, and what I can be doing in this season of my life, with my freedom. I know in time everything I hope for will happen, but I also need to hope for realistic things in this point of time.

For along time with dating I wasn't picking guys that were right for me, always one of the first questions my mom would ask if she knew I was dating someone was, "is he a christian?" And I use to hate it! And I would get mad. Other people would ask the same, and to be honest I told myself it didn't matter if the guy really was or not. I think part of it was that I didn't think I was worthy of Godly man. I don't know I really knew my place on where I stood with God, and I didn't think it was fair to say I wanted that in a guy when I wasn't that person. Plus in my head I thought oh if I made that my #1 priority I would NEVER find Mr. Right. As I have thought a lot about this in the last week I know this isn't true. And it's something I know has to be my #1!

So this blog has shifted to something new and maybe what it was meant for.

I would love your prayers as I go through this journey of finding myself and figuring this all out!

Thanks!

About love, about life, about everything nice.

The thing about this no dating thing I am going on, is I want it to be me focusing on other things in my life. To help me realize what I want, what I need and what God wants for me. 6 weeks at one end of things seems like a long time and on the other side of it, it doesn't seem long at all. What I know I need to do is keep myself busy. Make more effort to plan this with friends, and build in those relationship. The problem I had with dating was putting my life on hold a bit in hopes the guy of the week would make plans with me, and I know I should have never done that, but I did. A lot.

I have struggled a lot, since I was little in being loved. I grew up in a family with parents who I know loved each other, but to be honest fought a lot. A dad that loved us, but also saw a angry side of him, and a lot of memories I wish I didn't have. And a mother who deep down I knew she loved us, but she was very emotionally disconnected to us and didn't show that love or really ever said it.

I was always that chubby girl growing up and through high school. And during college I become determined to loose the weight and I did. And then I turned 21 and started going to bars and getting attention from guys. I never dated in high school and somewhere in college I started online dating and 4 years later I am still online dating and still single. ha so maybe that should tell me something.

There are relationships with guys or somewhat of hookups with guys I should look back and maybe I should regret, but I don't. All of those things have taught me things and to be honest I needed those. Maybe yes it wasn't always the right attention, but i needed it. There is only one I truly regret. A lot.

For awhile I just wanted to think I liked dating and enjoying the single life, because saying this(being single) is what I wanted made it easier then saying I can't find a guy who wants to date me :)

I have all these fantasies in my head of what my life would be like with that someone. I was always the little girl that played make believe and had a family, and in my head I still play make believe of having a boyfriend/husband. Its like watching TV or seeing a couple walking down the street and my mind goes into this fantasy world.

I don't want my happiness to be depended on if I have a boyfriend or husband. I REALLY don't.

But I love the idea of love.

Its my birthday, Monday. And all I was hoping for was a guy. And that seems so silly. I have never spent a birthday or Christmas or any holiday having a boyfriend. I mean to be honest, which all of this is about is, I have never had a serious boyfriend. No one I have introduced to my family. A few causal guys I have introduced once or twice to friends, but nothing major, and that makes me feel like a failure.

I don't want any of this to feel like a poor Sara pity party. I just need to write and be honest and put it out their, and maybe it will help someone else, knowing they aren't alone in their feelings. Or its just gonna help me, knowing my thoughts are out their.

She's NOT gonna date.

So another guy has come and gone. I don't even understand how this happens to me. I thought things were mostly going well and we went out last wed night and had a fun time. And then I kinda mentioned us doing something fun Saturday together and he seemed cool with it, and then we talked a bit Friday afternoon and then Friday night I asked if he was still game for doing something Saturday...And he never responded...and Saturday morning came and went, no word from him so I texted to say hey. Still nothing, so then I was just nice and said hey don't know if you still wanted to do something tonight, but if not no big deal, I just want to figure it out so I can make other plans. Nothing from him. And I was freaking out more then I was letting it seem, maybe because this all happened to me last time, and this time I didn't want to waste my time. So a few hours later I said "well I guess that's a no hope you have a good weekend" That's it. But I was really sad and bummed. Plus I wasn't feeling good so it made it worse. Still of course heard nothing from him Sunday. My last attempted to just have a clean break I texted him last night just to ask what happened and he FINALLY responded and said.... " I left my phone at a guys house Friday night. By the time I realized where it was it was late and it seemed to me that you'd overreacted , so I overreacted by not responding. That's about it" While I am glad he responded I just felt worse. I said I was sorry, but I don't feel like I REALLY overrated. I don't know.

Maybe I am just not suppose to be dating right now, and that is what all this has come down to. It was semi fun in the beginning and I let myself think this would all be fun. But it's not fun, because I don't just want to date. I want to fall in love, I want to be loved. I want to be married. And to date just to date is not me, I don't know why I thought I could do this.

I know I shouldn't beat myself up about this all, but I do.

I let guys and dating put too much vaule on who I am. I know this. And it makes me feel dumb to say that. I know I need to figure out being happy alone before anything else. I just don't know how to do that.

I don't want to be looked at like oh the poor single girl. That's not fun. Being single is not fun.

I have thought about this all yesterday and I think I am just going to take a brake. I know it will NOT be easy for me. But if I don't do this I think I am just going to be in a really bad pattern of all this.

We are starting this 6 week journey at church and I feel like its a good time to start a NO dating strike. I feel like this next 6 weeks with out dating will let me focus on me more and figuring out ME.

I might come back and write a bit about stuff in the next 6 weeks, and it's not like I am not writing guys off, if something comes along I can still talk to a guy, but be honest and say I am not gonna date right now. This is just something I NEED for me. Did I mention this is gonna be HARD?

Date #17

The background story-- Same ole same ole, we met online. We talked for like two days before he asked, which is sometimes just nice.

The Guy--
Age: 29
Job: In med school. (he was in the marines)
What he wore: Jeans and a polo and good preppy shoes :)

The Date--  He was very nice and asked if there was any bar or restaurant that I haven't gone to that I was wanting to check out, but since I kinda wanted to see what he would come up with said not on the top of my head. He then asked if I liked Thai, um score! yes its my favorite. So he asked about Teak if I had been there, and I said yes once, while I would have loved to go there again, he hasn't been to any Thai place here and my favorite is Green Papaya, so that's where we went. He asked what time worked best for me to PICK me up, and most of the time on first dates, when I haven't met the guy I don't let him pick me up, but I had a good feeling about him so I let him. He picked me up almost right on time (I hate when guys are late). He came to the door(points), you would be surprised how many guys text and say "I am here" dumb.  And we went to dinner, things were good, we had lots to talk about. We talked a lot about our families, my job, his med school stuff, his time in the marines. There was no short in conversation. After dinner he asked if I wanted to go grab a drink, so off the a local bar we went and had a couple of drink. It was easy and fun. The excitement of a first date is the fun of it all, but at the same time the leading up to a first date is what I hate the most! He then took me home and we said bye. BUT he texted me later and said " I had a great time with you Sara :) You are even prettier in person than I could have hoped for. And yes, you are very interesting in a good way" EEK. That boy knows how to get a girl happy. That bit about being interesting was a bit of a inside joke, because I the way back from the bar he was saying he had fun and said something like I am a interesting person. But the way he had said it, it sounded kinda bad, and I joked with him about how it sounded bad. Fun times. So I am excited, we had the date tues night and already went out again Saturday night :)

He seems much more serious about things then most guys I have dated, which is good. We have had some semi serious talks about marriage and kids and where we want to be in the next 5 years.

The hard moments.

I wrote this little bit on a draft that I was not going to share, but as one of those moments I just wanted to remember last week...

"It was "date" #4 with Jonny last night. We just hung out at his place and I stayed the night. But there was a moment last night when we were in bed and I think I can now say I really like that guy. He had been rubbing my back and he knew my week had been kinda stressful, and after rubbing my back he could tell I was really tense and kept asking what was wrong and I said nothing, and he knew that wasn't true. And then he held me and kinda pushed the issue, in a good way, of me telling him, but I was feeling a bit emotional and felt like if I talked I would cry and no one wants that. And he even said its okay to cry, just that feeling that I felt like he knew me. And he said "you are laying in my bed with me, if you can't talk then what is the point og this" And he was right. And I talked about a bit and teared up a bit, and he was the comfort and the laughter I needed. It was a good moment."

There was a moment I was happy and excited to see where things would end up. I WAS HAPPY!
And then these quickly changed. I don't like talking about this part of dating. Because I feel like I failed. I don't even know what changed. He just stopped talking to me. No explanation. Just no response. And to say that's frustrating is a understatement.  So this part of dating is what I hate and I think whats the point in this. So its been a rough week, to say the least. Just another part of the story I thought I would share.

Date #16 and a bit more.

So this date was interesting in a way of the story that leads up to it. So this guy we had acutally been talking to for what seemed like a while and I really had no idea if he was ever going to ask me out!

But there are always certain guys I am always more excited to go out with, where some I like but not totally sure about, maybe like last guy. #15. So after I had gone out with #15, #16 asked if I wanted to grab drinks or coffee this weekend. Well I had already made plans to go on a another date with #15, but to be honest I still wasn't really sure what I thought about him. So I made plans with him for Sunday night. Well THEN I had like a really GREAT time with #15 Saturday and didn't know how this was all going to work. But I kept my date with #16 and we had drinks. And it was fun. He was VERY my type. Tall. Preppy. And he was wearing TOMS. My type. lol

And so then I was VERY confused as what to do. Luckily my week was SUPER busy so there wasn't going to be a chance to go out with #16 again and then I was going away for the weekend. Which he knew about. So I thought things maybe will just work themselves out. And I saw #15 again for a quick movie night Monday night and still really liked him.

Well me and #16 talked here and there for a week and then I got a super nice text from him saying he had been causally dating someone and they just decided to make it exclusive. He was very nice about it and I wasn't bummed out, so I think it was good and all worked out.

And I am still going on dates with #15 and I have to say I really like him, I am always nervous about how much to share in the start of dating, because I am nervous it won't last and then its that blah time where you have to say nope no more. But things are going slow and good and we will see. I am still up in the air on if I am going to keep going on dates. While I like #15 I feel like its okay to go on first dates with other guys because we aren't in any way serious....

So that's whats happening right now!

Date #15

The background story-- We talked for a little while before the date, my schedule was really busy so we finally made a date for mid week.

The Guy--
Age: 25
Job: Works in insurance but also going to school for his MBA
What he wore: Jeans and a Tee (a bit more hipster)

The Date-- We met up at the wine place right near my house (his idea for wine, major points!) The date was fun, could have been all that wine ;) I think its really hard to know FOR SURE after a first date how you feel, most times both parties are a bit nervous. I also wasn't 100% sure if he was my type. But our conversation was good, I felt like we both laughed a lot which is important in my book.

So THENNNN I told my self if he asked I would go on another date, because I had fun, so if nothing else it would be a good time. And so he did, and we went out again Saturday night. And it was like a lot of fun, and it just felt easy and like I was really myself. I didn't expect it to go as well as it really did, and before the date I made plans to go on ANOTHER drink date with a DIFFERENT guy for Sunday night.....So yea things are gonna get interesting I think...

Stay tuned!

Date #14

This post is gonna be a bit different then most have been, mostly because I feel like I just need to write. Dating is HARD. I don't think women talk about how hard it is, other then with their super close friends, because I think its hard to admit when a date does lead to something more. Even though myself I know that it didn't work out it was because it wasn't the right thing for both people, its hard. And I probably beat myself up over it more then I should.

Lets be real a moment. Its draining. Getting to know someone, and to feel like you trust them enough to open up to them takes a lot. And then to try not to get your hopes up too much after a date, when we all do, is hard. And then there is the moment after a date that I try not to get to excited or try not to over think it all, which never works. And then its the awful moment when he says there wasn't that click.

And I try not to let it get to me. And I know its incredibly silly to get sad about a guy after one date. But I do. And that's me. Which makes me think I shouldn't be dating, because it's this awful cycle.

But in the end, I still want that ONE person. I want to BE in love, and to be LOVED. I know all this will be worth it someday. And if I don't put myself out there I won't find that, so I am gonna keep going as HARD as it sometimes is. I try to keep telling myself to just ENJOY it. Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy!

So clearly date #14 is not the one. Maybe I will make it all the way to my goal of dates for the year.

Date #13

Because I kinda skipped this one I will make a quick story just so its documented! :)

You remember date #12? How it was this picnic date...Well a few days after that one I went on another one and it was a picnic date again. But this one I was excited about!

The weather was a bit iffy, but it was sunning for the first part of it, and he had played to make some yummy food, and I said I would bring desserts. So we put out a blanket in the grass and really I thought had some good conversation, we ate our food and chatted and chatted, and then it started to rain a bit, nothing major so stayed put and enjoyed more conversation. We ended up talking for like 3 hours and I thought it was good.....But then he never called after the date.

So moral of, as I should know by now is that just because its a good date doesn't mean much.

The end. Of 13 of course.

{Date #12}

Well since there's another date that happened that makes it clear that #11 is out of the picture. And I am ready to move on and keep dating. I had a friend as me if I was still in the mood to keep on dating or I was feeling like what could be out there. But I am still hopeful most days that there is something out there and if nothing else I am dating to fulfill this blog :) Sure there has been a lot of ups and downs with dating this year, but its been fun, and if nothing else some very good drama and stories. Because I have been told I have/cause a lot of drama in my life, which makes for something interesting. Right?

So on to this what I would like to call this KINDA date.

The background story- So this of course was a guy I met online, and we have been talking a week or so, and kinda from the start I knew he wasn't my type, but we were having good conversation so I went with it, but I quickly realized not only did we not have much in common, but we were at VERY different stages in life. Hes young( same age as me, but I never date guys the same age as me for that reason) and still lives with his parents. So I was honest with him and said I felt like we were at different stages of life and that worried me and I didn't think that would work. He at first I think was a little upset and kinda said bye. But then came back the next day saying he had enjoyed getting to know me and asked if he could still take me out so we could meet. So being the nice girl I am I said yes, because I did have good conversations with him, and he was nice.

The Guy--
Age: 23
Job: Works at a car place transporting cars...
What he wore: He was actually dressed really cute, nice jeans and button up.

The Date-- This is where I feel really bad! Because he tried really hard to make this date perfect. He planned a picnic and made all the food him self and bought my favorite wine, and then even made chocolate covered strawberries. And it was all really cute and sweet and would have been perfect, but there just wasn't anything there like that at all! I mean I had fun in a friends kinda way, but nothing more then that. :/

{Date #11}

Its funny how this whole blog gets people talking. Its made it very easy for people to ask about whats going on with the guys in my life, and when I say there might be one people respond with why have I not heard about him on the blog!

So I feel like I owe it to all you reading to know.

This date #11 actually happened like a month ago. Time flies.

The background story-- We met online, of course, and really we didn't talk long at all before he asked me out on a date. It would have happened sooner, but I had been on a trip with my family.

The guy--
Age:27(I think, its probably bad I am not so sure about that!)
Job: He produces one of the Local morning news show.
What he wore: Cute button down shirt with jeans and flip flops. I approved!

The Date--  He picked a cute Italian restaurant I had never been to, and probably the first time ever I was running late on the date. And when I got there he was sitting outside on the bench. We went right in and got seated (because he has made reservations.) To be honest I am not even sure what we talked about, but it went by fast and he works at night, and I wasn't totally sure what time he went to work, so I wasn't surprised when after dinner he walked me to my car and just said bye, even though I was hoping to spend more time with him. But the night was still early for me and I needed to run some errands so off to target I went, and right when I got there he sent me a text and our convo went like this:

Him- I had a great time tonight.
Me: Oh I did too! Thanks for dinner :) and good choice!!
Him- Thanks. So when can I see you again
Me: Well when can YOU see me again? lol
Him- Yep its what I thought about the whole drive home. I should have asked if you wanted to go somewhere and talk, but I would be happy with a drink or a night out sometime soon.
Me: Well other then saturday I am free :) and yes you should have :) but it's okay!
Him- Well would you still like to, we only live a few miles apart.

And so he came over to my place and we took a walk and then sat outside and talked until he had to rush to work!

We then went out the next night also :) And things are still going...

We sadly the last few weeks haven't seen each other, he was super busy, then out of town, then I was out of town and now hes out of town again. We did see each other for a few hours Saturday night right when I got home and then he left early Sunday morning, so that was nice. I am not good at figuring out boys, so I don't know where we stand really :/ But its fun for now.... I do know he wants a relationship and not just something causal, so that's good...

So that's where things stand right now in my dating world. I am unsure if I should go on other dates right now or not.

Updates--Date {9} and {10}

So its been quite around here I know. I still have been dating but things have been slower and to be honest I think I was a little burned out. Dating is very frustrating. I love going on dates but I hate all the before and after worrying and wondering if more will come out of it. I have a hard time and just letting things go and see what happens. And I know this project was suppose to be just fun and carefree, but I am not that person so much when it comes to dating. I try to be and maybe pretend to be, but I will be honest I have had freak out worrying moments a lot. And I will admit I get down on myself when after 1 date with a guy nothing happens. I know everything happens for a reason and the right person will someday come along and stay.

So I have gone on 2(actually 3, but I will make a REAL post for #11) dates in the last couple of months. both went well I thought. But both guys weren't looking to very causally date, and as much as I wish I could just be that person I am not. So then came and went and I don't know. That's where things are for now.

I had a date this past week that I will PROMISE I will share all about in a new post in the next couple of days!

{Date #8}

The background story-- We met online. We had been talking a couple of weeks I guess. To be honest I have been in a bit of a rut and really didn't feel like going on dates. And I wasn't even sure I wanted to go on this date. But we had been talking quite a bit, like we spent like almost 2 hours on the phone one night, and so I went with it and figured the worst would be I still didn't feel like dating.

The guy--
Age: 32
Job: Head manger for a family painting company.
What he wore: Vneck tee shirt, jeans and nice sneakers.

The Date-- I wasn't at all nervous about this date. He had actually planned something, and then an hour or so before my room mate had some car trouble and was maybe going to need my help, so at first he said he would just wait until I was done, but then I didn't know how long it was gonna be and didn't want him to just keep waiting, so I said maybe lets do another night, but then she didn't need my help and I kinda still wanted to do something so we met up somewhere close to my place for dinner outside because it was AMAZING out. Conversation was easy with him, and we both have a lot in common, so things really flowed easy, and it was fun. We talked a lot about family, we both come from similar families and could very much relate to each other stories! I laughed and smiled and was really glad I went on the date. After dinner and a few beers at the first place we headed to another place for some more beers. I ended up stay up way past my week day bedtime because to be honest I didn't want to go. It was just one of those easy fun nights. He walked me all the way back to my car and gave me a hug and a kiss! And then when I got home sent me a text saying thanks for the night and that he had a lot of fun!

5 things I learned about him--
1. He really likes to cook.
2. Hes not a very big sports fan.
3. He has 3 sisters.
4. We have mothers who are both very similar (a little crazy!)
5. He has only lived in Cincinnati for a year.

The Verdict--
I had a lot of fun, and we already have plans to hang out again. I am not trying to figure out what will happen. I am having fun though and its good! So we will see...

{Date #7}

The background story--We met online. We actually hadn't talked a lot at all. Like only a few days, and not even on the phone. Which sometimes its nice going into a first date not knowing a lot. But he was on top of things and Thursday night asked if I wanted to go to what by far has been the nicest date so far this year(which looking back people doesn't say much) but I agreed and he made reservations and said we were set. :) I had never been to the place so I was at least excited for a nice dinner.

The guy--
Age: 28
Job: Software Developer
What he wore: A plain Vneck tee and okayish jeans and nice shoes. (I have to say, for the place we were going to, he could have dressed a little bit nicer...)

The Date-- So like I said I was impressed going into the date with in choice of place! He was on time, so there was no awkward waiting on my part. I hate that on first dates... So we got sat for dinner right away because he made reservations. And at first it was kinda awkward, like I couldn't figure out why, and there was not first spark going, so I was a little worried on how the night would go...BUT luckily he was a gentlemen and suggested if I wanted a glass of wine to get one, and he made the point to say totally on me. (like he was picking up the check) So I had my glass of wine and I started to feel a little more at ease and we got into good conversation, so much so that we were really slow at ordering appetizers and food. And speaking of food, lets be real this is the fun part of going on a date, the food was AMAZING. Ummm yum! So back to the date! So really good conversation, we talked about our jobs, our hobbies, about living with people, about where we grew up and lived. We really covered a lot of stuff. AND THEN...we finished eating he paid for the check and we were still talking and I had mentioned I guess in the night about church or my small group just dropping it in conversation and he asked me if I would say I was a religious person...although I must say I hate that word religious, I said yes...I mean I go to church and have a belief system. And then he said well just to be honest with you I am a atheist....BUM BUM BUUMM. Yea so that was interesting....and actually we had a really GREAT discussion on what I believe in some what and I told him about where I go to church, and he said his boss who is also a atheist takes his family to crossroads, and he had thought about checking it out. So although I don't think hes Mr. Right, I truly believe there was a reason we met. I listened and did not judge him for what he believes. Because that is not my place to do that, and he said at one point he really respect that I wasn't judging him because a lot of people that are religious do. Not to make this so churchy, but how is it that the people that are suppose to be showing love are the ones who are really showing hate. Do I agree with what he believes? No, but I am not God, I don't have the place to tell him what he believes. Just like I wouldn't want him to push his beliefs on me, I am not gonna do the same. So it was a great discussion and he walked me to my car, in the snow and hugged me good bye and said he had a great time and we should do this again maybe next weekend. So we will see if he contacts me...

5 things I learned about him--
1. He LOVES to cook.
2. After college he moved to Colorado for a few years to change up life.
3. He only has one sister.
4. He moved to cincy when he was 8.
5. He has had a lot of crazy roommates, but now lives alone.

The verdict--
Like I said I don't think he is Mr. Right. But I would totally go on another date with him. I have no idea what he is really looking for. But if nothing else we have another great night of good conversation. So we will see what happens...

BTW I am already a 4th of the way done with my goal of 26 dates...and its only Feb.
OH and speaking of FEB, Valentines Day is Tues, and how is it I have been on 7dates and still have no Valentine....lame!

{Date #6}

The background story-- So this guy was kinda like #1 we had acutally talked breifly like a year ago (I cant really rememmeber when it was) and neither one of us knows why we stopped talking or never went out. But I have acutally been talking to him since before I went on a date with #5 so we have been talking casually for awhile, I even told him after my 2 date with guy #5 that there was kinda someone else I was dating, and he said that was fine because he was in no rush for anything and thought it was more important to be friends first. So we kept talking.

The Guy--
Age: 27
Job: writer
What he wore: Okay jeans nice button down shirt and good shoes.

The date-- So I wasn't at all nervous about this date, like I had said we had been talking for a few weeks so, I dont know, it just felt easier to me. We met up at Starbucks, when I got there he was already there and had a big smile when he saw me, which come on that's always nice. But he already had his coffee so I went up to get a drink and paid for it myself, I mean that's fine, but the boy lost a few points there. And then it was easy we chatted for awhile, then he asked if I was hungry, I kinda really wasn't, but I hadn't eaten dinner so why not!! So I rode with him and we went on a search for something to eat. And he seriously couldn't decide on what to eat...I threw out a million ideas. Like I said I wasn't hungry so I didn't care where we went. And then we ended up at skyline. I mean really I don't need to be OVERLY impressed, but I don't get guys. I mean it was fine, and it was a good time. Then after we decided to go back to my place to watch a movie. We went to redbox and picked somewhat of a random movie, which I think is acutally fun. It was a good time watching a movie...

Five things I learned about him--
1. He was in a bad car accident like 10years ago that put him in a coma. Hes fine now though.
2. He has from what I can tell a strong christian life.
3. His mom is really sick and he helps his dad take care of her.
4. He has one sister.
5. Zeek liked him :)

Memorable Conversation--
When we were at Starbucks kinda smiled randomly and I was like what? And he was like wow, and I was like umm wow what? And hes like you, with a big smile.  It was nice!

The Verdict--  Well I had fun with him, I still really like #5 and I think #6 isn't looking for anything serious so I am just gonna go with it and enjoy it. I already went out with him again on Sunday, he invited me to a Superbowl party at his friends place, which was kinda interesting...but it was fun. And I at least enjoy hanging out with him!

An update.

So for all you peeps wondering whats going on in the world of Sara's dating life...Well I was hopeful things would work out with #5, I really like/liked him, and I don't think the story is totally over for us, but he is SUPER busy, and isn't making me a priority, so its not fair for me to stop things if hes not. So I am putting him on the back burner for now, who knows what will happen some day....
But this whole project was to just ENJOY dating. So I am getting back to that and making plans to go on more dates. So peeps keep a eye out for some more dating stories. :) Like this weekend. I have a coffee date tomorrow night :)

Second date with guy #5

So I went on a second date with guy #5, and I feel like second dates are WAYY more important then the first, because we have now met and are more relaxed and true colors come out more. And second date was as great as first date. Off the bat he is VERY much a gentleman, like ALWAYS opening the car door for me, I do admit it makes me feel weird, but happy at the same time, because sure a guy here and there has opened the door but not EVERY time. So BIG points. It was pretty chill, we had drinks again at a couple places. So we did a lot of talking and laughing. And it was just a happy time. To be honest this is the part of dating I hate, BUT guy #5 seems to be very honest and not afraid to let me know how he's feeling, but not in a over gushing your kinda cheesy way. He just makes it known that he had a very nice time and hopes we can do it again soon. So third date soon?!?! Yes please :)

{Date #5}

The Background story-- we met online(if you haven't figured out this is a common theme ;) We started talking about a week and half ago briefly and then started texting about a week ago kinda small talk each day...and then a few days ago he said something cute about we should talk on the phone first, if your able later I will give you a call and then if your cool with it maybe we can meet up sometime :) (but FYI it was a few days before he actually made the call....) From the very start talking to him I had a bit of a crush. He was funny and we were both sarcastic about things. His messages always made me laugh, so I was giddy and excited to go on this date! Oh and I should mention hes a southern boy :)

The Guy--
Age:29
Job: Hes in law school (after having a career in banking he decided that's not what he wanted and went back to school, and now hes in his last year and half of law school!)
What he wore: Nice grey sweater with V neck tee under it. Good dark jeans and nice brown shoes.

The Date--
So we decided to meet up for drinks at a place near me. And it was cute because he texted me before saying he was on his way and that he should be right on time, but if he was gonna be a few mins late he would let me know, and then texted again when he was a few mins away. Major points! So we sat and ordered drinks, my go to bud light and he ordered a rum and coke. We started talking about my job a lot. Guys always seem very fascinated with my job, they always seem to have a lot of questions about it, which I don't mind, because my job is different then most, and my job is a big part of my life so I am game for it. We talked a lot about family, hes a pretty big family guy. We talked about church, because we had talked about this some before the date, but he use to go to crossroads, and has now gone to the vineyard I grew up going to a few times. So that was a good sign. He seemed very observant, and asked good questions. We talked about my pictures some, and I saw showing him some family pictures and then he made a cute comment, hes was like I don't want this to sound bad, but I think your a lot cuter in person then some of your pics. Ummm that's a HUGE compliment, because one I feel myself like I take a really good photo, so to know he thinks I am even cuter then the photo is good :) And now I realize we sat and talked for 3.5 hours. And it felt like it went by super fast! I really think its awesome that he realized in his young age that what he thought he wanted to do was not what he was happy doing and made a bold step to go back to school to do what he his passionate about. There is something very appealing about someone with passion. I also learned he has travel a lot, pre going back to school.

Five things I learned about him--
1. He was engaged once before.
2. He was a only child and very spoiled.
3. We grew up with the same type of displine and feel the same to do when we have kids. (he wants kids someday!)
4. We have very similar religious views.
5. He grew up in TN and has a bit of a southern accent, that is super cute!

Memorable Conversation--
He pointed out that I have a small dimple on my right cheek, but you can only see it if I smile big. (I told you he was very observant :)

The Verdict--
I could say I hope we go out again soon, and I hope he feels the same way...BUT I already know he wants to go out again, because that boy texted me last night after the date to say he had a great time and that he hopes we can see each other again :))))) One happy girl! And MAJOR points for not waiting to text me. He is a bit of a southern gentlemen :) Ekkk I am really excited to see where this goes.

After having 3 first dates in 3 days I am ready for a break of first dates, granted they were ALL fun, and I enjoyed my time with each, but I really would like to go out with #5 again, and #4 already wants to go out again, but I am not so sure about him. He is a little forward and I am not sure...advice??

{Date #4}

The Background story-- we met online. And we didn't really talk that much at all. We were texting a bit yesterday, and he asked if I wanted to hang out, something low key chill, so I said why not drinks. So I have to say before I started just dating for really the fun and enjoyment of it, I would have NEVER gone on a date with this guy. Hes a bit more of a bad boy then I would go for. But he seemed nice, but he has a lot of tattoos but still knows how to dress, from what I would tell from pictures. He's also originally from Miami, FL, and he also works A LOT so I knew he was maybe kinda just looking for people to hang out with. And my night was free so I went with it...

The Guy--
Age: 32
Job: Something to do with stocks...
What he wore: I have to say hes been the best dressed guy yet. He for sure knew style. He was wearing sweater with button up under, it was kinda funky, but for sure a good look, nice jeans! And he had a good grey coat on over. And then he was wearing cute black glasses (I have a MAJOR thing with boys in cute black glasses).
Height: I normally haven't talked about this because all the other guys were pretty tall, and I do like that. But he was pretty short..... :/

The Date-- So like I said we met at a local bar for drinks, well I drank he did not, this is kinda maybe the weird part...he doesn't drink because he went through AA, but that was awhile ago he said and everyone he hangs out with drinks and he goes out a lot with people drinking so he didn't mind meeting up for "drinks". So like I said this is something I never would have done last year...but who am I to judge? And he could of lied about why he wasn't drinking, but I give him props for being who he is.We ended up meeting at one bar and walking to another one that was less crowded. I think I was going into this "date" it not being a date, because he wasn't really my type. But we got into conversation right away. And maybe it was the fact I hadn't eaten much all day and so when I had 2 beers I was having fun fast, but no it really was fun. We had a lot to talk about and he seemed genuinely interested in knowing about me. It was a short date, but I felt feeling happy and that I stepped outside my "norm" to just ENJOY life. But he was kind of one of those guys I could explain myself to and he got me. Like we were talking about dating and I kinda spilled the beans about this blog, and he thought it was a fun idea. I didn't explain it all, he knows that I date and blog about it....We talked about God a bit, and church. He doesn't go, but believes in God. Most of what we talked about we just seemed to click and understand. Hes for sure not "my type" hes probably a bit more wild and free spirited. But then at the same time he has that good job hes committed to and thrives for. BUT it was fun. And this is what this is all about!!

Five things I learned about him--
1. He likes to shop! :)
2. Doesn't drink, but likes to go out.
3.  Likes all kinds of food! (its also good to go on dates with guys that like different foods!)
4. He owns a boat.
5. He has over 2000 songs on his iPhone. lol

The verdict-- I will admit there was some type of connection there, I don't know if it will be something where we are just good friends, but I can see hanging out with him again. And I already know he wants to hang out with me again, because he texted me last night saying he had fun and asked when we could hang out again! (but I already kinda have another date planned for today, ekk so he will have to wait...)

P.S. Its hard work keeping up with sooooo many guys! And the rate I am going I am gonna have 26 dates done by may!!
